Hope this guide will help you when you see esxcfg volume not found.
Don't suffer from crashes and errors. Fix them with ASR Pro.
I have a problem with 1 FC LUN, which can be seen as a device across multiple paths on 10 hosts from a cluster perspective, but it only shows up as a new VMFS datastore on the hosts. All other LUNs in the same array appear as hosts. 10 hosts track LUNs with dual LUN, ID and all hosts are comparable in terms of ESXi (5.2) design, 0 firmware updates and HBA models.

Do you have a computer problem? Youre not alone. In fact, over 60% of computers suffer from some kind of error or crash at one point in time. ASR Pro is the best solution for fixing these problems and getting your PC back up to speed. Click here to get started:

On all hosts, 4 can show the device, but not the VMFS datastore. It looks like it treats the LUN as a snapshot: “esxcli remembrance vmfs snapshot list” appears in:
4f5e5cbb-a87cd2c6-86e9-d8d385f98034
Volume name: LUN101_SAS2
VMFS UUID: Mountable: 4f5e5cbb-a87cd2c6-86e9-d8d385f98034
true
Possible reason for re-signing :
: false
Resign failure reason: Attempt to use actual volume
Number of unresolved extents: 1
The VMFS UUID above matches the VMFS UUID seen on the 6 hosts that unfortunately can see the VMFS datastore.
When I try to “add storage”, my device is listed as VMFS at LUN101_SAS2(Head). don’t know why (head part) was added to the VMFS label. On the next screen, the specific options “Keep existing signature” “Assign new signature and new signature” are greyed out with a single option “Format my hard drive”. I have to keep this existing signature because there are startup VMs that have their .vmx files on it in the lun in addition to the .vmdk files.
Does the fact that I’m running VMs on this LUN usually prevent my Vision from selecting the “Keep signature active” option?
Do I need to move these Storage vMotion VMs to another LUN before I can add a 4-host VMFS data store?
After doing an ESX diet (fixes, server space rescan, reboot), VMFS volumes are no longer visible, although the web host LUN is visible on some storage adapter pages in the ESX configuration tab.À Undoubtedly, most VMware administrators will see this in several places; Today I saw this in some of my environments and realized that I need to write down the steps needed To solve each of our problems.
Usually the root cause of the problem is often a modification of this storage array that changes our h(id) of the LUN in question. This change can be caused in some way by an array upgrade, firmware or RAID/LUN LUN removal/rebuild, reconfiguration which can result in h(id ) of each LUN. etc.), h(id) is considered a new observable. Since most of the previously observed identifiers do not match, the LUN will be marked as a Snapshot LUN, and access to this LUN will most likely be disabled.
It’s pretty easy to diagnose this problem. In addition to the procedures I have described, all of which have been observed using the Virtual Fault Center client, you can also confirm using the ESX command line.
To diagnose this dilemma from the console, check the vmkernel log by running the following Trail command: /var/log/vmkernel

If each of the affected VMs were running esx-server-hostings, withHigh availability would work (if licensed and carefully configured), whether applicable or not, and simultaneously restart the VM using a different node in the ESX cluster.
If multiple ESX servers (or all of them) are affected, there is no doubt that all your VMs will be forcefully and properly shut down, so there is little you can do other than fix the problem and also trust your backups. (do you keep backup copies, or?). why Here are array-level snapshots useful. Don’t let that stop you from having a solid disaster recovery plan.
To solve your problem, you don’t really need to have fully working VMs running affected on VMFS volumes on different volumes. Shut down the VMs or use Storage To vMotion to move the committed VMs to another LUN™.
